Blog post 5 Topic: Changes to my study programme

 

This topic it’s difficult to me because I’m in my second year of biochemistry and that’s not even half of the degree, so I think I still don’t know everything I would like to change, but based on my experience so far, In the curriculum, I would eliminate or modify the learning objectives of some first year subjects, like mechanics or electromagnetism, because I feel that not everything we see in those subjects is important for our professional development, on the other hand, about workload, I would like to decrease that in the second year, especially in the second semester of second year because I think that course seven subjects It’s too much work for anyone, and even if it’s not impossible, it’s very frustrating, at least for me, because I feel like I could learn better if I had more time for each subject, but since I have to pass all of them, sometimes I don’t study as much as I would like. If I think about faculty facilities I feel that some spaces could be used better, and some of classrooms have problems that could be fixed, such as problems with projector or audio, which hinder learning. Finally, I think that, in general, teaching methods was good in this faculty and I like the idea of started with subjects in common with the other three careers because I think that could help in communication between scientists that we have in the workplace, and gives a good basis for our academic training, but I would like pass more time in lab, and have more subjects that allow me to have a clear idea of what my future job may be like.

Post 4, Topic: Time travel to the past or future

If I could travel through time, I would like to go to the nineteenth century. That is because several historical figures that interest me lived in that period, such as Oscar Wilde, Mary Shelly, Jane Austen,  Fiódor Dostoyevsky and others writers that I like, or such as Marie curie, Marie Lavoisier, Ada Lovelace, Mary Somerville, women scientists with fascinating life stories. In the case of writers I would like to talk with them about their feelings, their life, their context in the moment to imaginate and give life to their books or short stories, I´m a big fan of so many writers of this period and of the form that their describe the life in those times and I'm really curious about what could inspire that beauty narrations. On the other hand, I think a lot about women in science throughout history, because I know that the opportunities that we have in the present is not the same in the past, and I admired the passion and talent of women that despite having everything against them, managed to work in what they loved and leave their mark in history, I would like to tell them that over time the opportunities were opened to women and how important their work and effort was in this progress. I wouldn't like to stay here because for me the conditions of the present were better than the conditions of the past, in quality of life as well as in social treatment, so I only travel through time to talk to people who lived long ago.

Post 3 Topic: My dream job

 Honestly, I like my degree, and when I think about my dream job, it is working in a clinical laboratory, that is related to biochemistry, but I think it's so boring to write about that in a blog, so, I'm going to write about my other dream job, owning a vegan bakery. Now cooking cakes and others sweets things it's a way for me to relax, because I love the process of try new recipes, decor caking when it works well, and share what I cooked with others because I think a delicious and pretty can make anyone's day better, on the other hand, I like the idea of decorating a place where people can share a good and relax moment with their friends or family, and enjoy something sweet with a cup of coffee or tea, so I think if I didn't like sciences, I would to take a course of bakery, and try to do something with it, logically I know that having a bakery must be much more difficult than I imagine, because I would need cooking skills that I don't have now,  I would need money and the support of other people to start and maintain the business, a place that I could use for this, among other things, but in my dreams, I could to be happy working in something like that, if I could get everything that is needed.

Blog post 2 Topic: The best concert ever

 I have been to four concerts in my life, and all of them were important to me, but the best was the Miranda concert on august 19 of this year. The reason that this concert was the best is that I have a friend who is a enthusiastic fan of Miranda, and every time we get together, not often because we live in different cities, we sing Miranda songs for nostalgic and we said that when there was a concert in Santiago we should go together, so, when finally I attend Miranda concert with her I was really happy, even before the concert starts, more for sharing the moment with her that for the concert, but since the wait the atmosphere was exciting. The concert was amazing, Miranda started their career in 2001, so they have an extensive list of hits from the 2000’s and even though they sang the new versions of the songs, it felt good to listen to songs that were played when I was a child.

Blog post 1 Topic: A country you would like to visit

 I would like to travel to Sweden because my older sister, and her family live there and since she moved in 2019 we have not met in person. Almost everything I know about Sweden is actually about Gothenburg, the city where my sister lives, because all I know is for she talk to me about it, among other facts, I know that in Gothenburg there are many foreigners, and the people are so kind, in winter, there are few hours of natural lights, and is the opposite in summer, where most hours of the day have sunlight. In general Sweden is a cold country, even in summer, but it has pretty green areas despite that. In Sweden, I would like to go to parks and museums that I’ve seen in photos taken by my sister, and meet her friends. I would not like live there, and I don’t know if there are job opportunities there, but I would enjoy staying for a while.
